In today's globalized world, the concept of time can vary greatly depending on where you are. For Syrians living abroad, this can be especially true as they navigate time differences between their home country and their new location. The idea of "dual clocks" has become increasingly relevant for Syrians overseas, prompting a need for clarity and understanding. **Definition of Dual Clocks** The term "dual clocks" refers to the practice of mentally or physically keeping track of time in two different locations simultaneously. For Syrians abroad, this often involves maintaining awareness of the time in Syria, as well as in the country where they currently reside. This is important for staying connected with loved ones back home, scheduling international calls, and even observing religious practices that may be tied to specific times. **Concept Clarification** The concept of dual clocks is not just about the numerical time differences between two locations but also encompasses the emotional and psychological aspects of living between two worlds. Syrians abroad may experience a sense of dissonance or disconnect as they straddle different time zones, cultures, and ways of life. This can lead to feelings of nostalgia, longing, or even confusion as they navigate their dual identities. Despite the challenges, embracing the idea of dual clocks can also be empowering. It allows Syrians abroad to maintain their ties to their homeland, stay connected with their roots, and appreciate the richness of their multicultural experiences. By embracing both sets of clocks, they can create a unique rhythm that blends the past with the present and paves the way for a future that is enriched by diverse perspectives. In conclusion, the concept of dual clocks for Syrians abroad is a multifaceted one that goes beyond mere timekeeping. It speaks to the complexities of living in a globalized world, where identities and experiences are shaped by multiple influences. By understanding and embracing the concept of dual clocks, Syrians abroad can navigate their cross-cultural journey with resilience, grace, and a deep appreciation for the richness of their bicultural existence.
